Summer Sampler 2021 is upon us, and we're giving this year's design a 'vintage restyle' by putting a modern flare to traditional quilt blocks.

The past couple of months I've been working with a team of talented modern quilt designers to bring you this year's Sampler.

What's the Summer Sampler?

The Summer Sampler is a quilt along held each year over the summer and hosted by your sampler hostesses with the mostest, Lee Heinrich, Faith Jones, and Katie Blakesley. Each week, for 13 weeks, you receive a pattern for one quilt block in your email inbox.

This year's theme is Vintage Restyle. The group of designers bring you 13 new quilt blocks that push beloved traditional designs to new heights.

The Details

What's included

For $34.99 total (a one-time charge), you'll receive:

13 fully-tested quilt block patterns, with tips and tricks for success
A Welcome PDF with fabric requirements and suggested colors (see below for info about fabric bundles available from online fabric shops)
Complete finishing instructions to make an 68" x 68" sampler quilt
Coloring sheets for planning
Access to a private Facebook group ask questions, get advice, and connect with the designers and a community of other quilters

Schedule

You can subscribe starting today. The quilt along will run June 7-September 6, 2021 and you will receive a new block pattern via email each Monday during the quilt along.

Quilt Size

The blocks are 12-1/2" x 12-1/2" (12" x 12" finished), plus one super-sized 28-1/2" x 28-1/2" block. The full quilt will finished at approximately 68" x 68"

Fabric Requirements

For the blocks, you will need approximately 4 yards total of assorted colors, plus 2-1/4 yards of White background fabric. For the sashing, you will need about 1-2/3 yards of White and 1-1/8 yards total of various shades of gray. More detailed information is available in our Welcome PDF, which you can download on purchase.

Skill Level

Confident Beginner - It is assumed you have basic quilting knowledge such as general fabric cutting and pressing knowledge, the ability to sew a consistent 1/4" seam, and familiarity with the terminology used in quilt patterns.

12 of the 13 blocks use basic (traditional) piecing techniques. 1 block uses foundation paper-piecing. (If you have never paper-pieced before, our "Beginner's Guide to Paper-Piecing" is included with purchase.) 4 blocks use curved piecing. There is no appliqué in this sampler pattern.
