All You Need to Know About the Midnight Medallion Quilt Along

Save the date! Beginning March 2, 2026, Brother USA and I, Wendy from The Weekend Quilter, are teaming up once again for a six-week Medallion Quilt Along (QAL) that’s set to be out of this world. This time, we’ll be making the Midnight Medallion quilt — a playful, cosmic twist on the traditional medallion structure, featuring glowing Twin Star and Sawtooth Star quilt blocks. Whether you're just lifting off on your quilting journey or you’ve been orbiting the craft for years, this QAL is designed to help you strengthen essential skills while trying out efficient techniques to streamline your sewing. And by the end, you’ll have a show-stopping 60in x 60in throw that sparkles in any space.

Best part? It’s completely FREE to join! Download the Midnight Medallion quilt pattern from The Weekend Quilter’s website here and you’ll be ready for lift-off.

ABOUT THE PATTERN

Midnight Medallion combines the timeless charm of a medallion quilt with a cosmic-inspired modern twist. The center Twin Star and Sawtooth Star quilt blocks anchor the design, while each surrounding border introduces new movement, color, and techniques — almost like building your own little galaxy, ring by ring.

Throughout the QAL, you’ll learn and refine skills such as:

·       Strip piecing
·      No-waste flying geese
·      Split quarter-square triangles
·      ¼in scant seam allowances
·       Quilting assembly basics

Grab your FREE copy of the Midnight Medallion PDF quilt pattern from The Weekend Quilter’s website here.
